Required Immunizations for Incoming 8th Grade Students

Missouri State Law requires

ALL 7th grade students coming into the 8th grade for the 2019-2020 school year to have a TDaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis) and MCV (meningococcal) immunizations before being allowed to pick up schedules in August.

If your student has already had these immunizations you need to bring in a copy of their updated Immunization Record to the student’s attending middle school.

You may also fax records to:

East - (417-625-5284 ATTN: NURSE).

North - (417-625-5273 ATTN: NURSE).

South - (417-625-5256 ATTN: NURSE).

If your student has NOT received these immunizations, please make an appointment with your Dr. or the Health Department (417-623-6122). I strongly encourage you to make an appointment for the immunizations now, as offices are very busy and often run out of needed immunizations in August and this could delay getting a schedule.

Missouri Law also allows for Medical and Religious exemptions from immunizations. An exemption card must be obtained from a Physician for a Medical exemption, and from the Joplin Health Department for Religious exemptions. This card need to be presented to the Nurse, and will be kept in the student’s file. Without the card, the student will not be compliant with Missouri Law, and not be able to obtain a schedule.

Please have all records turned in by May 9, 2019 to eliminate any issue with enrollment in August. Also, please know students CANNOT get schedules without proof of these Immunizations for the 2019-2020 school year.

.If you have any questions please call the student’s attending middle school:

East @ 417-625-5280

North @ 417-625-5270

South @ 417-625-5250
